I have gotten so used to attending weddings the past years. Who wouldn’t if you received wedding invitations from friends left and right? I appreciated it since it only meant I held some degree of importance to them because they all wanted me to witness their union. But usually, I am only an attendee to weddings which means what I do is just observe, eat and mingle. Given that, it follows that I don’t have much experience when it comes to playing roles during wedding ceremonies.
Believe me when I say that I’ve been a bridesmaid only once, during my bestfriend’s wedding and it was hilarious and slightly embarrassing –my act not the wedding ceremony itself. Imagine me getting reprimanded by the officiating priest himself just because he thought I didn’t pin the veil to the bride good enough. Funny, right?
That’s why I felt the jitter when a good friend from Cebu recently got me as one of her bridesmaids in her forthcoming wedding in September. I freely accepted and thought it was an honor but at the back of my mind, I had this uneasiness only associated with auditions and practical exams. Maybe that had something to do with my “bridesmaid experience” years ago. Fortunately, I got over it quicker than I thought. My girl power attitude prevailed.
Now, my only worry is how to lose the pounds I gained from undisciplined eating as I’m starting to feel the pressure to slim down just so I would fit in the gown. Good luck to me.
P.S. I’m excited to attend the Pond’s event tonight. Hope that this time, I’ll be able to meet (and actually start a conversation) with more bloggers.
