Blog Action Day 2008: Poverty

This is the first time that I am participating in mass action. No, it’s not a strike or sabotage but a collaboration that seeks to increase people’s awareness on a particular issue and push for change. It’s called Blog Action Day. This year, the theme is poverty.

Poverty is a universal problem. Most of us have experienced it at one point in our lives. What makes it worse is the fact that majority of the world’s population is living in poverty. Despite the serious efforts of international organizations and world leaders to solve this problem, poverty continues to spread at an alarming rate.

Poverty has many underlying causes. It can never be solved overnight. It involves a lot of hard work, discipline and sacrifice. But the more people working together to fight poverty, the bigger the chance to alleviate it.

Part of Blog Action Day’s goal is to initiate global discussion and mobilize people to address the pressing issue. It may just be a thought or an opinion but the fact that you help promote this endeavor through a blog post means a lot.

I have just made my presence felt. Now, it’s your turn. Register now.
