"Don’t Tell my Mother That I am in… :" A Bold Documentary Show from the National Geographic Channel

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, here comes another documentary show that is big in adventure and bigger in danger – “Don’t Tell my Mother That I am in (insert name of country here).” The show seeks to tell the kind of life there is in dangerous places. The show is hosted by Diego Buñuel, “an American reporter known for his work as foreign correspondent in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Congo and other hot spots around the globe.”

Last night, I watched the show’s episode on the Holy Land (Israel and Palestine territories). Oh boy, was the man very brave! Armed with a back pack, he spoke with some Israelis about the life condition of the people there. The topics went from bomb and rocket explosions to precautionary measures and food supplies. He even had the guts to cross the infamous Gaza Strip and joined the little celebration of the Palestines there.

Much as I was moved by the show’s courage to document the happenings in the life of the two opposing nations, I felt more for the Israeli and Palestine people because they both cry for peace. Though they employ different means and operate under different principles in achieving the elusive dove, they nurse the same dream and that is to make the promised land their home. It is sad that they have yet to realize that. We all know the root of the Israel-Palestine conflict has long been the topic of debates of many historians. And just as the answers are vague, the conflict has also remained for years and so.

Back to the show, I heard there are other exciting episodes that feature equally adventurous places. I’ll be watching out for that also. Anyway, the National Geographic Channel airs “Don’t Tell my Mother…” documentaries every Monday at 10:00 p.m. in the Philippines.

whenever I watch shows like you mentioned at times I would imagine myself living dangerously even just once.

of course as a mom I wouldn’t want to take risks like that coz I am more afraid of leaving my child alone if ever something happens to me but if you ask me if I were single I would like to go visit one dangerous place once in my life.

ei sis, thanks for dropping by my site though it was down for several days :)

@pinaywife: you’re gutsy, i’m not.shows like that make my heart beat faster and i can’t imagine going to a dangerous place even once.it must be because i am a breadwinner and my absent will be sorely missed by you know who.lol. :)

Edelweiza: three jobs and five blogs? Where do you find the time? I have one job and one blog, and I can barely think of enough topics for 5 posts in a month. You must have a more fertile imagination than I do.

That documentary show sounds interesting. I like travel and adventure stories a lot. Thanks for the recommendation.
