The Breadwinner Turns 25!

I am speechless. I used to be 24-ish and carefree. Today, I have just turned a year older. I feel quite odd because unlike other people I know who dread the arrival of their birthdays, I jump at the thought that I am going to start another chapter in my colorful life as a person, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a lover, a neighbor, a citizen, a worker and of course, a breadwinner. Hopefully, I become wiser and more mature in all aspects of life now that I’m officially two and a half decades living in this world.

This afternoon, I celebrated my birthday silently. I whipped up two crowd favorites, chicken and spaghetti. There was also a cake from Adel, my La Cocina buddy. We had a satisfying merienda and for some, dinner. Edwin was sweet enough to go back to Manila from Baguio City on the eve of my birthday. He gifted me with a white Baby-G. Funny because I got him a black G-Shock as a birthday present (I have yet to finish my post about his birthday celebration in Baguio City) last October 5th. Now we’re the G couple. Lol.

Albie (Edwin’s sister) also has a new Baby-G. She liked the watch so much that she ended up buying it. I’m not a big fan of luxury watches but since the Baby-G is a gift, I think I have to learn wearing one now. The old Timex watch I wear in the office (which I also got as a birthday gift) is still in tip-top shape though. Casio is a good brand so I guess my new Baby-G will last me years. I might make a review of it one of these days.

When the night came, I returned to my normal self. I reported to my part-time job. The guests of the restaurant left early so I was able to go home early, too. Edwin went back to Baguio a few hours ago. He still has a week to spend there on official business. I so appreciate his efforts to show up on my birthday.

G-Couple

I take this opportunity to thank God, my loved ones and my friends for the love and support that they have been giving me all these years. My existence isn’t complete as it is now if not for them. I’m a bit sad because Mame, Daddy and Oday weren’t here on my birthday. I hope and pray to celebrate my next birthday with them.

Also, I thank all of you who are reading this for being a part of my life through this blog. We may have not met personally but I think the connection and interaction we get to have through blogging and visiting each other’s blogs are enough to forge wonderful friendships that hopefully, last many blogging years, or perhaps, a lifetime.

Have a great day, everyone! :)

P.S. To all my blogger friends who greeted me in advance, thank you very much. :)
