Secrets to Staying Young and Happy

yhap
While sorting out the content of my inbox, I chanced upon an e-mail forwarded to me by a former blockmate in college eons ago. It is a list of the things people should practice in daily life to stay, ermmm, young. I just turned 25 last October 12th and somehow I feel that I am losing vitality (OA). It must due to work-related stress and the occasional family problems confronting me. I dunno but reading the e-mail has helped me feel a lot better. At least for the time being. Know the secrets to staying young after the jump…

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctor worry about them. That is why you pay him/her.

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. An idle mind is the devil’s workshop, and the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is God. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

I dunno who made this list but whoever you are, thank you. This one is inspiring and will surely help many people enjoy life to the fullest.

If you know other secrets to staying young and happy, please share them with me. I’ll be very grateful. :)

    Hi Edelweiza,

I can’t remember how I found your blog a couple of weeks ago, but I just wanted to salute you and your lovely blog. From one Filipina to another, at 25, you are FABULOUS!. I like the braces too; I wish I had gotten them.

I know what it’s like to feel like you’re working so hard all the time and yes – time does slip by pretty quickly.

If you’d like more ideas on how to keep the kid in you alive, despite all the hardships of adulthood, come visit my site: http://www.whahappen.com

I see you’ve had your blog up for some time. I’ll return to go back through your archives. I also have some questions about life over there in the Philippines. My family has been in the Los Angeles area since I was 5 yrs old back in 1971. Take care.
