the flagship store, fully booked

Fully Booked is a concept book store that caters to people of all ages, bookworm or otherwise. To be able to explore completely the wide-ranging offerings of a Fully Booked store, one visit isn't enough. More so if it's the flagship store at Bonifacio High Street that we're talking about. On November 28, a big group of bloggers got the chance of touring Fully Booked-Bonifacio High Street. I was one of them.

program proper

Fully Booked-Bonifacio High Street is teeming with books of all sizes, thickness and colors. Basically, it has five main sections: children, design, lifestyle, humanities and professional. (The books are evenly distributed in the six-storey building.) It also has a music section where you could listen to songs before actually buying the records.

Down the basement, they have this cutting edge movie theater called U-View that seats 62 people. It's very ideal for film showing and small productions.

It was at U-View where Fully Booked's marketing manager Rhea presented to us a short video about Fully Booked's profile and present projects. One of them is Fully Booked Bloggers Book Club in which the bloggers who attended the event that night automatically became members. We will be eligible in enjoying the perks and privileges of the club such as getting invites to book launches and other exciting activities. Cool, right?

Presently, Fully Booked has eight stores strategically spread all over the metro. The one at Bonifacio High Street is big, complete with elevators and a Starbucks outlet. I can imagine myself spending my entire day there and I won't get bored at all. Anyway, did you know that you can now order books from Fully Booked online at http://www.fullybookedonline.com? Book shopping has never been this easy.

no.1 and no.2 best-selling books of 2008, respectively

Anyway, the event, which consisted of a tour, games, talks and heavy cocktails, was a success and lasted until 9:00 p.m. Initially, I was with the company of Monique, Audrey and Eric but later on I got to meet and chat with other bloggers such as Ms. Noemi, Ms. Noreen, Abbie and Carl as well. It was fun, I tell you. I enjoyed a lot and ate a lot, too! Hizon's catering definitely knows how to whip up great dishes.

After the program was concluded, the fun continued when it was announced that bloggers were to take home two books each. I had a hard time choosing my books. I'm sure all the bloggers had a hard time, too, what with the truckload of books before us waiting to be picked up. Lol.

Many thanks to Fully Booked-Bonifacio High Street, Hizon's Catering and Yehey.com for this awesome treat! :)

Too bad Fully Booked does not care about the security and safety of its customers.

Last November 26 2008, sometime between 8 and 8:30 pm, my sister and I visited the branch at Gateway. I spent several minutes looking for certain books, then spent several minutes at the customer service station(located near the store's entrance/exit) asking for availability of certain books. Their customer service area also served as package counter and there were several people getting/surrendering their bags at the area. When I got the books I asked, I proceeded to the cashier. When I checked my bag, my wallet/pouch containing my celphone, SSS ID, BPI credit card, 2 sim cards, about P3000-4000 cash was gone. I returned immediately to the nearby customer service area to check if I left my wallet there. I didn't find anything. My sis and I returned to all the book shelves we have passed but our search was futile. I then informed the 2 security guards standing at the door, but they were not helpful and said that they cannot search the bags of the people exiting their store. I asked some of the staff to help me search but they all seemed to ignore me or looked busy. When my sis and I checked the customer area again, my sis spotted a celphone underneath several small books/notebooks. It was the same area where I was standing while inquiring at the customer area before. We gave the phone to the same customer service personnel I was talking to before. The phone rang and he answered. The caller was asking him to return the phone. I then asked the customer service personnel to please ask the phone's owner if she/he accidentally switched/took my phone/wallet. I then asked if I could go see the security cam. They led us to their security cam room and let us wait there for several minutes before telling us that the video cannot be retrieved that day because the camera is still running. I asked if we could see it tomorrow and he(Mark Tantag(not sure of the spelling because of his handwriting) - store in-charge) agreed. My sis and I returned to the customer service area (approx 10-15 mins have passed) and asked if the owner of the phone has returned.
The guy said that yes, they already gave the phone to the owner. My sis and I were surprised. Why weren't we told when we were just in the camera room so we could ask that person if they saw or accidentally switched/took my wallet/celphone. I then asked if he asked the phone's owner about this. He replied that they couldn't do that. They're afraid that they may get sued or something. I then asked why they did not just call us then so that I could ask the person myself.
They just spouted more excuses. Then they referred us to the security office of Gateway. The Gateway security office wrote my report in a blotter/log notebook.

The next day, as early as 10am, exactly the time the mall opened, I returned to Fully Booked gateway. I'm the first and only customer inside. I asked Mark Tantag (store in-charge) if I could now view the security video. He told me that he just got in and he still hasn't retrieved the video. He also said that they are busy because they have an event upstairs that day (I wonder what...) and that they'll just call me thru my sis celphone (which we did not get).

Four days passed...no calls...no text message.

Today, December 1, 2008, approx 2-2:45 pm. I returned to Fully Booked and asked for Mark Tantag(store in-charge). He then regretfully informed me that their security cameras have malfunctioned. He said that since November 9, the videos from their cameras have not been retrieved and are now contacting their supplier (I wonder who?).

Whaaaaaat????!!!!! Did they realize this just now? Or is this another excuse?

I asked him why. Don't they ever check their cameras daily?

He said they don't check their cameras unless they receive a complaint like mine.

WHAT THE F^$%^$%&%^& HELL?!?!?!?!

It's like not checking their fire exits or fire extinguisher unless there is a fire.

Darn.

So I'm asking all of you to boycott FULLY BOOKED and please pass this message to all your family and friends.

(Note: I'm sure the wallet/phone was stolen in their premises because I still had it with me while I was browsing some books)

@joycee: ah really, sayang nga.sa next event na lang ulit.hehe. :)

@anonymous: sorry about your unpleasant experience at fully booked-gateway. just a while ago, a friend lost her cellphone inside SM-Dasma (dept. store). she was intentionally bumped by a stranger and before she knew it, the phone was missing already. my friend is certain that stranger was the one who stole her phone.

i think your story and my friend's should serve as a lesson and reminder to mall admin and security, including store owners, to be more alert and vigilant in preventing theft inside their premises.we can't afford to lose our valuables especially in these trying times.

i hope your complaint gets resolved soon.i'm sure fully booked people can do more than that.

re: boycott, i don't think this will ever help solve your problem.just my opinion.

@jhanna: soon there'll be one in Cebu, that's according to Fully Booked people during the event. :)
