The invite came as a surprise. I got chosen by Yehey.com to be among the 30 bloggers for the DETOUR: Island Cove Adventure last March 5. We played ala "amazing race" in a group game that tested our wit, staying power and physical endurance. It was a scorching Thursday at Island Cove but the heat didn't stop the bloggers to face the challenges of the game and have fun on the way to the finish line.

The meeting place was at Go Nuts Donuts, The Fort where we had Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee for breakfast. Ironic? Lol. By past 9:00 a.m., we reached the venue -- Island Cove in Kawit, Cavite.

This sprawling complex (total land area: 36 hectares)houses a hotel and leisure park with amenities that make for a relaxing getaway, an office outing, a business conference or a grand family vacation.

We experienced most of the amenities first-hand through the special tour given to us and the various tasks we did as part of the Amazing Race game.

Though the blue team (Jonas, Irish, Sire, Jonel and I) didn't come out as the big winners, we were still happy because we had lots of fun. After all, it isn't everyday that we get to experience catching our breath, sweating like crazy and running like mad under the heat of the sun. I believe it made us all tougher and more appreciative of our healthy lifestyle. We played hard and we survived!

Did I mention that the food served to us by Island Cove the entire day were awesome?

The sinigang na baka I had during lunch was the best I've ever tasted!

soup or not, this sinigang na baka rocks!
The awarding ceremony saw the bloggers welcomed and greeted by no less than Cong. Gilbert Remulla (their family owns Island Cove). He had been a gracious host and the bloggers thanked him for his generosity.
