What Makes You Original? | Havaianas Philippines Promotes Originality and Individuality
By edelweiz on 9th March, 2009
Piracy is illegal, and yet many businesses thrive because of it. Is it really hard to be original? As a person, it isn’t that hard. Your individuality separates you from others. I, for instance, believe that I am original because I am a breadwinner and work hard for my family. After all, not everyone is born to become the family breadwinner eventually. Havaianas Philippines values and promotes originality by distributing only original Havaianas flip flops in the country.

Havaianas (pronounced ah-vai-YAH-nas, means Hawaiians in Portuguese) originated in Brazil in 1962. Behind it is the Alpargatas Company. Since then, it has been producing millions of flip flops that are made of quality rubber. The rubber used are either natural, synthetic or recycled, making them environment-friendly. Over the years, the world has embraced Havaianas flip flops with delight and a sense of glamour.
I got invited to a Havaianas event last March 4 in Rockwell. It was hosted by Iya Villania and DJ Mo Twister. As my blogger friends and I entered the venue, our photos were taken by a professional photog. Part of the program was declaring our commitment to originality by posting our photo (with our own original message)on the pledge wall. I gladly participated along with the other bloggers. The event was all about promoting originality and that night, it started with the mindset of buying only original Havaianas flip flops.
It’s a pity that nowadays, it is very easy to find faux Havaianas flip flops sold on the streets at prices that are way below those of their original counterparts. I cannot say that I’ve never bought a pirated product or service in this lifetime, because I did, all I want to say here is that we should protect our originality at all times. This may apply to the products that we buy, the service that we pay for, the friends that we have or even the kind of life that we lead.
Being original is what makes us unique.Perhaps we could draw inspiration from an original pair of Havaianas flip flops in nurturing and holding on to our originality and individuality.
