The Measure of Happiness
By edelweiz on 1st July, 2009
They say happiness is relative. That it all depends on the person’s assigned meaning to the word. As for me, I try to look at happiness as something that can be achieved. I’m shallow when it comes to happiness. I am easily pleased. I try to laugh at life and not take life so seriously. I guess that’s what makes me happy, aside of course from my innate cheerful disposition.
A morning greeting from the first person I see on the road is enough to brighten my day. A pack of special ube ensaymada or a plate of spaghetti can put smile on my face. A PM warms my heart because it means somebody remembered me. A budget shopping alert makes me hyper. A small tip from the guest at the restaurant where I work part-time makes me want to do my job better. A blogger event with someone as bubbly as Bobby Chinn excites me. A salary increase at work is always appreciated. A tap on my shoulder to remind me it’s dinnertime is all it takes to soothe my night. News that some international pop sensation like Lady Gaga is coming to Manila gets me thrilled. A good night kiss from a loved one is enough to send me to dreamland in a joyful mood. All of these things make me happy.I love the feeling of pure happiness.

How about you, do simple things make you happy?
