Trying Hard to be a Typing Maniac, Facebook’s Latest Addicting Game

These days, there is only one thing that binds me to Facebook. It’s a game that does not only pressure my brain but also strain my fingertips as I type random words away as if there’s no tomorrow. It’s called Typing Maniac and most of my Facebook friends play it. In fact, among them I am ranked no. 11 as of today with a score of 175.917, which is not bad considering I’m not a homekey typer.

Typing Maniac is a Facebook application that measures how fast you are as a typer. You are to type out random words (three-lettered to eight-lettered words). You lose when you fail to type out the descending words in a given time period. Just like most brain games, you get some elemental powers such as Fire, Ice and Wind to help you either burn, freeze, blow, slow down or keep the words away.

While other Facebookers are currently hooked on other popular applications like Farm Town, Poker, Mafia Wars, Pet Society and Restaurant City, Typing Maniac is what I’m spending a lot of my free time on.

Typing Maniac can be addicting. For one, it lets you beat other players and establish your degree as a typer. It’s a sort of mind exercise that would not only make you persevere and rise up against time but also inspire you to achieve things which you think are beyond your capacity and power. In this game, the adage “time is gold” holds true.

Below are the various ranks (from the slowest to the fastest typer) at Typing Maniac that differentiates the players from one another:

Amoeba
Worm
Fish
Amphibian
Pterodactyl
Tyrannosaurus Rex
Mammoth
Monkey
Primate
Homo Sapiens
Cave Man
Roman Soldier
Viking
Prusian Militar
Courtesan
Modern Age Man
Space Man
Cyborg
Robot
Alien
Uber Alien
Spiritual Entity

Have you tried playing Typing Maniac over at Facebook? It’s free and you can even challenge your friends to beat your score. If you’re a fast typer, you can even publish the results of your game to your Facebook wall for all the world to know. Yeah, sort of an ego booster.

Try it for yourself. It’s fun.

Oh, I guess I better play Typing Maniac now… :)
